CIRION Central Laboratory

The Medical Writing practice at TRA360 looks for companies that can add value to our clients. CIRION Central Laboratory is a mid-sized Canadian-based contract research laboratory that helps biotech and pharmaceutical companies through the clinical testing process. Their goal upon establishment was to design an organization that can offer companies resources for their clinical trials and expertise in the sciences.

But what do they do? According to the CIRION website they “offer the complete range of services of a larger organization with the added personalized attention and dedication you expect for your projects, regardless of their size.” They also provide services in the development of assays and have the capability to validate per GLP standards. In addition to GLP , they are are also compliant with and adherent to GCP regulations. In addition, CIRION is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), as well as the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Do they send out their work, or do it on site? CIRION has the ability to run all of their tests and assays in-house which ensures the consistent quality across their testing. This also allows for cost saving and rigorous control of the tests being done.

What do they have for experience? The scientist that work with CIRION all have a science background and a knowledge of clinical logistics for the benefit of the customer. CIRION’s talent pool includes scientists that have experience in biologistics, biosimilars, biomarkers, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, microbiology, and molecular assays. Each project is assigned a project manager with the appropriate qualifications for that project. This ensures that the quality of their projects are up to the best of their ability.

Social Media Recipe #1: How To Seed

Over the next several months, TRA360 will be blogging about our most coveted tips, tricks and how to’s in the social media world. As many of us know, social media has begun to take over marketing and branding. Social media has shaped up businesses across the world in addition to helping brands develop trust and credibility among their consumers.

This week’s social media “recipe” is about seeding. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of seeding, seeding refers to the act of generating content and “planting” that content in related online forums, platforms or discussion boards to find people who might be similarly interested in your content.

How To Seed

Ingredients

1 (or more) piece(s) of juicy content

1 working computer with internet access

1 completed LinkedIn profile

1 cup of motivation

3/4 cup of networking skills

Typically, seeding works well with blog posts, articles, newsletters, short research summaries, etc. The best piece of wisdom we have to offer here is do your homework. Seeding seems simple, yes, but in reality, if you are seeding in the wrong online locations your content is bound to be ignored. Do your homework by researching the top 10 locations of where your content will be read and replied to. Engagement is key here!

A LinkedIn profile is essential for seeding because of the “groups” feature. Joining related groups to your industry and seeding your content through these groups will help generate a buzz about your content. Writing about social media and not sure where to seed? Start with your own personal Twitter account, Facebook page, and knowledge share groups on LinkedIn. Other platforms allow their authors to be published and read by thousands including Social Media Today, Digital Doughnut, and Business 2 Community.

Good luck, seeders!

Organogenesis, Apligraf, Gintuit, and the Future of Rengerative Medicine

Apligraf, Organogenesis, Inc.
Apligraf, Organogenesis, Inc.

We’re back with more on Organogenesis. We figure if Organogenesis doesn’t stop at one life changing product, why should we stop at one blog about them.  Welcome back and enjoy the rest of what they have to offer.

Organogenesis also developed an oral soft tissue to replace the process of palatal grafting. For people with receding gums, the normal fix involves taking pieces of the palate and grafting them into the gum to replace the tissue. The process is just as painful as it sounds, you get two wounds for the price of one graft. Plus it usually involves multiple surgical procedures since the palate is so small. In response, Organogenesis introduced the Gintuit. The Gintuit is made of isolated living cells from human skin and grown with bovine collagen. This enables the doctor to have enough tissue to replace a large section of gum without having to cut the palate and keeps the patient from enduring multiple long and painful procedures.

In addition to these products, Organogenesis developed technology for the transportation of their products. In order to ensure the best results they, like Wendy’s, ensure their Apligraf and Gintuit are “fresh never frozen.”  Organogenesis gets their products around the world by the next day while maintaining the body’s natural temperature for optimum cell life. Even better than that, when kept at body temperature the shelf life of these products is an amazing ten days. Other like products are shipped frozen and doctors are alerted that through the process of freezing and thawing cells, some are lost. With the Apligraf and the Gintuit, freezing and thawing are not an issue so more cells remain intact for optimum results on the patient.

With two life changing products and a revolutionary way of storing the products, Organogenesis provides a new face for regenerative medicine. Providing relief to those with chronic wounds, and giving those who need a gum graft with a less painful and invasive option, Organogenesis is giving people their lives back, and providing them with the relief they have been searching for.

Check in with us again as we continue this series with other companies like Organogenesis. Know someone who would like to be featured? Have any comments on this article? Let us know here or tweet at us @TRA360!
